Kent County Health Needs Assessment—The Kent County Health Needs Assessment was completed in May 2009 by the Mid-Atlantic Association of Community Health Centers through a planning grant with the Local Management Board. This is a report on access to health care and health care needs in Kent County, Maryland.

A new Public Behavioral Health Services Resource Guide has been updated to include the new and enhanced community services as part of the Community Alternatives Framework (CAF). Here is a more detailed description of the services under the CAF. These services were implemented in order to provide local community supports after the closing of Upper Shore.

2007-2008 Kent County Needs Assessment — Local Management Boards were required to conduct a community needs assessment every 4 years to identify the strengths and gaps in services within the community. Now it is every 3 years. The needs assessment is compiled using local data, key informant interviews, youth focus groups, surveys, and community forums. This “snap shot” gives us an indication as to where resources may need to be leveraged to impact certain indicators and result areas. Salisbury University completed the needs assessment for Kent County, and became the tool used by the Board for strategic planning.

Youth MOVE is a national organization developed to support and provide leadership skills for youth that have experienced the systems that provide services to children and families.  Youth MOVE is in the beginning stages here on the Mid-Shore.   Paige Young has been hired as the Youth MOVE Coordinator and a small group has sprouted.

Make Children Count Too

Children have been undercounted in every census since the first one in 1790. Local communities rely on census information in planning for schools, child care, health, and other critical services. The Annie E. Casey Foundation is supporting the Census Bureau's efforts to ensure that parents and child care providers count their babies and young children on their 2010 Census forms so all children can benefit tomorrow from community services.
